Production Planner
Recru-it is looking for a dedicated and experienced Production Planner to join our team in the Eastern Cape. In this role, you will be instrumental in achieving our company objectives by developing and maintaining daily and weekly production schedules that ensure efficient output and seamless fulfillment of client call-offs.
As the master scheduler, you will take ownership of the entire production cycle—from initial planning and coordination to final monitoring. This position requires someone who can work collaboratively across various departments, including production supervisors, maintenance teams, and our external clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and update production schedules to maximize resource efficiency and meet customer demand.
- Clearly communicate scheduling plans to the production department.
- Monitor daily production outputs to ensure compliance with the schedule and pivot quickly when changes are required.
- Partner with the Material Requirements Planner to guarantee the availability of raw materials.
- Address production bottlenecks, resolve operational issues, and proactively improve existing processes.
- Generate detailed production reports and schedules.
- Retrieve customer releases from My Exchange and monitor inventory levels through regular cycle counts.
- Track equipment downtime, escalate production stoppers, and oversee Finished Goods storage.
- Facilitate bi-weekly planning meetings and manage WIP (Work-in-Progress) and half-bins.
- Coordinate stock takes and ensure strict compliance with production protocols.
- Balance labor requirements for effective planning and provide essential administrative support to the Production Manager.
- Maintain high standards regarding layout and 6S methodology.
- Collaborate closely with CMS and Maintenance teams.
- Manage and justify overtime requirements.
Qualifications
- Grade 12 certificate.
- Relevant tertiary qualification in inventory management, production, or scheduling.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of scheduling experience.
- Solid experience within the injection moulding industry.
- Proven proficiency with Syspro software.
- Advanced Excel skills with the ability to design scheduling systems and interpret complex reports.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure.
- A valid driver’s license and your own reliable transport.
- A technical background will be considered a distinct advantage.
- Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
