Ntice Sourcing Solutions (Pty) Ltd. is currently partnering with an international leader in the Clearing & Forwarding industry to recruit an experienced Ocean Freight Import Controller based in Walmer, Gqeberha. This position is ideal for a dedicated professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is committed to delivering exceptional client service.
As an Ocean Freight Import Controller, you will take full ownership of the end-to-end shipment lifecycle, from initial booking and planning to final delivery. The role requires a candidate who can maintain profitable, compliant operations while serving as a key point of contact for clients.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 certificate (a Freight Forwarding qualification or SDS equivalent is considered advantageous).
- A minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in an Ocean Imports Controller or Client Service role within the Clearing & Forwarding sector.
- Proficiency in CargoWise is essential.
- A solid understanding of Incoterms, ocean import tariffs, customs legislation, and clearance procedures.
- Knowledge of third-party governing body requirements, as well as accounting principles including debits, credits, and international currency codes.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a focus on high-level customer service.
- Proven ability to multitask, manage time effectively, and maintain high levels of accuracy under pressure.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the full lifecycle of Ocean Import shipments from the point of booking through to final delivery.
- Coordinate and plan imports to ensure client requirements and deadlines are met.
- Provide proactive, clear, and professional communication to clients throughout the shipment process.
- Monitor and track shipments to ensure all milestones are met, while accurately capturing data and maintaining documentation within CargoWise.
- Collaborate effectively with origin offices, customs authorities, transporters, warehouses, shipping lines, and internal teams.
- Oversee customs examinations, inspections, and cargo releases.
- Handle cargo dues, creditor invoices, and payments, as well as negotiating freight rates where necessary.
- Ensure timely customs clearance by securing all mandatory documentation.
- Manage job costing, maintain operational profitability, and oversee accurate billing within defined KPI deadlines.
- Resolve operational queries efficiently and ensure full compliance with company SOPs and regulatory standards.
- Maintain organized client records and ensure comprehensive handovers are conducted during periods of leave.
Remuneration
The salary for this position is between R30,000 and R35,000 CTC per month, negotiable based on individual experience and expertise.
