Junior Financial Accountant – TrudyQ Consulting
TrudyQ Consulting is currently seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Financial Accountant to join our team in Centurion. This role is based within a prominent Financial Services Group and is perfect for an ambitious professional who has recently completed their SAICA or SAIPA articles and is eager to take the next step in their career.
As a Junior Financial Accountant, you will support the full accounting function across multiple entities. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain comprehensive exposure to financial reporting, taxation, payroll management, and statutory compliance, allowing you to build on your existing technical foundation.
Qualifications and Requirements
To be considered for this role, you must meet the following criteria:
- A BCom Accounting, BCom Financial Accounting, BAcc, or an equivalent accounting degree.
- Successful completion of SAICA or SAIPA articles (this is non-negotiable).
- 0–2 years of relevant post-articles experience.
- A strong grasp of core accounting principles and experience preparing financial statements during your articles.
- Practical exposure to VAT, payroll processes, taxation, and audit requirements.
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Prior experience with Sage 50, Sage Pastel, CaseWare, or similar accounting software will be considered a distinct advantage.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will take on a wide range of duties to ensure the financial health and compliance of the group:
Financial Accounting
- Manage the preparation and processing of monthly journals.
- Execute accurate bank and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Maintain the fixed asset register.
- Play an active role in month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Assist with the compilation of management accounts.
Tax and Compliance
- Prepare VAT reconciliations and provide support for VAT submissions.
- Assist with SARS submissions, including EMP201 and EMP501 filings.
- Prepare comprehensive supporting schedules for annual audits and tax requirements.
- Ensure all financial activities remain compliant with relevant accounting standards and company policy.
Accounts Receivable and Payable
- Perform regular customer and supplier reconciliations.
- Review outstanding debtors and creditors to ensure healthy cash flow.
- Manage debt collection for arrear accounts.
- Oversee payment preparations and ensure receipts and payments are allocated correctly.
Reporting and Financial Support
- Maintain daily cash flow updates.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly financial reports.
- Compile thorough audit files with all necessary supporting documentation.
- Provide analytical support for various ad hoc finance projects as needed.
