Infrastructure Manager (JHB)

Datafin is currently seeking a highly skilled Infrastructure Manager (JHB) to join a provider of tailored financial solutions. This is a hands-on technical leadership position, intended for a professional who possesses deep, current experience across servers, virtualization, storage, networking, and security. We are looking for an individual who is comfortable being active in the technical environment rather than focusing solely on oversight. In this role, you will manage vendor relationships while ensuring the total reliability, security, and performance of the organization’s core infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain the enterprise server infrastructure, including hypervisor and virtualization platforms, to ensure high availability and peak performance.
• Take ownership of SAN and storage architecture, encompassing capacity planning, replication strategies, and performance troubleshooting.
• Design, implement, and maintain network infrastructure, specifically focusing on LAN/WAN architecture and multi-ISP failover configurations.
• Manage firewall infrastructure, including the configuration of security policies, SSL inspection, and threat mitigation.
• Oversee the backup and disaster recovery strategy and execution, including regular restore testing and the design of ransomware-resilient backup environments.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a technical team, establishing clear standards and providing hands-on technical guidance.
• Manage infrastructure vendors, contracts, and budgets effectively.
• Ensure all infrastructure changes are governed by appropriate change management and risk assessment processes.
• Produce detailed infrastructure performance, capacity, and incident reports for senior management.

Requirements

• A minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience in enterprise IT infrastructure.
• Demonstrated, current technical depth across server administration, hypervisor technologies, SAN/enterprise storage systems, and LAN/WAN networking.
• Proficient in firewall and network security management, as well as backup and disaster recovery solutions.
• Experience with Zero Trust architectures and Enterprise Antivirus Solutions.
• Proven leadership experience in mentoring a technical team.
• Strong troubleshooting and incident management capability, with a track record of resolving complex, high-pressure infrastructure incidents.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently with both technical staff and senior stakeholders.

Advantageous Qualifications

• Relevant technical certifications in virtualization, network security, or backup/DR.
• A relevant tertiary qualification in Information Technology or a related field.
