Fire Detection Technical Programmer
The Recruitment Pig is currently seeking a skilled Fire Detection Technical Programmer to join a leading integrated fire protection and security provider in Cape Town. This role is essential to the organization’s mission, as you will translate complex fire safety designs into functional system logic, effectively bridging the gap between physical installation and final system commissioning to protect both property and lives.
Role Overview and Compensation
This position offers a salary range of R18,000 to R28,000, negotiable based on your specific level of experience. As a Fire Detection Technical Programmer, you will work across public, private, commercial, and industrial sectors throughout South Africa, ensuring all systems meet stringent safety compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Program addressable fire detection control panels and complex networked systems.
- Configure precise logic for fire suppression and gas release sequences.
- Manage full system commissioning to ensure strict adherence to SANS standards.
- Handle site software configurations, including uploading to hardware and downloading critical data.
- Provide on-site technical support to troubleshoot software glitches and resolve device communication errors.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Must hold a valid SAQCC Fire Detection Commissioner certification.
- A minimum of three years of hands-on experience in programming addressable fire panels.
- Proven track record in commissioning large-scale industrial systems for commercial clients.
- Strong ability to interpret detailed physical building plans and technical electrical wiring diagrams.
- In-depth knowledge of SANS and NFPA safety codes.
- Technical proficiency in troubleshooting data loop communication faults and system earth faults.
- A valid driver’s license is required for travel to various client sites.
