Safety Officer
Time Personnel is currently seeking a diligent and experienced Safety Officer to join a client based in Ndabeni, Cape Town. If you have a solid track record in safety—ideally within the rigging, construction, building, or machine lifting sectors—this is an excellent opportunity to manage critical safety documentation and field compliance. We are looking for a professional with strong administrative skills who can maintain an efficient, accessible document and records management system for all stakeholders.
Requirements
- Matric certification, a valid driver’s license, and your own reliable vehicle are essential.
- A relevant safety qualification, such as SAMTRAC or an equivalent, is required.
- Proven experience in maintaining, communicating, and accurately recording safety documentation.
- A background in construction, rigging, heavy machinery lifting, or related industrial sectors is considered a significant advantage.
- A robust understanding of compliance standards, document retention schedules, and audit trails.
- Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to multitask effectively.
- A high level of integrity, an innovative approach to problem-solving, and a collaborative team-oriented mindset.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage the implementation of Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) protocols in the field and oversee head office safety administration to ensure records remain accessible.
- Coordinate the HSE function to ensure full compliance with relevant safety legislation.
- Maintain the compliance framework established by the company.
- Log all compliance-related activities in a timely and accurate manner.
- Report internal non-compliance issues immediately.
- Manage the information required to maintain all company accreditations.
- Ensure all documentation is current and oversee the timely submission of client accreditation paperwork.
- Monitor the quantity and quality of document submissions provided by technicians.
- Update HSE files and safety files in accordance with specific client requirements and legislative amendments for both maintenance and project work.
- Ensure all online platforms are kept up to date with the latest company plans, procedures, risk assessments, safe work procedures, and man-hour reports.
- Collate quarterly PPE requests from the field and submit them for final approval.
- Verify that all checklists are completed and reported, ensuring any non-compliance is promptly actioned.
- Obtain supplier quotations for new equipment, recalibration, and servicing, and secure the necessary approvals.
- Establish risk assessments for all infield and workshop activities, ensuring risks are identified, communicated, and addressed with safe work procedures.
- Conduct scheduled infield HSSE and safety file audits.
- Manage compliance call logging and assist with various ad-hoc duties as required by the organization.
