Health and Safety Officer – Cape Town

Time Personnel is currently seeking a meticulous and experienced Health and Safety Officer to join our team in Cape Town, Western Cape. We are looking for a dedicated professional with at least five years of operational experience who excels at conducting thorough onsite inspections and managing complex administrative data systems.

Key Requirements

  • Matric certificate paired with a relevant qualification in Safety or Environmental Health.
  • Must hold a valid Code EB (08) driver’s license and possess your own vehicle.
  • A minimum of five years’ relevant experience, supported by a NOSA or SAMTRAC diploma/certificate.
  • Intermediate proficiency in all MS Office packages, with the ability to manage large volumes of data, information, and concurrent projects.
  • Proven onsite experience within the construction or building sector, including familiarity with rigging equipment or similar machinery.
  • A solid track record demonstrating longevity and the successful implementation of processes within a large-scale organization.
  • Self-motivated and deadline-driven, with the ability to take initiative and maintain systematic, accurate records.
  • Exceptional communication skills, coupled with a keen ability to perform incident investigations and conduct root cause analysis.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Proactively advocate for the occupational health and safety of all employees, contractors, and site visitors.
  • Analyze trends and provide actionable feedback based on incident and audit reports.
  • Maintain rigorous record-keeping and filing systems to ensure compliance.
  • Regularly evaluate business activities to identify and mitigate operational risks.
  • Develop, maintain, and monitor Occupational Health and Safety strategies and performance targets.
  • Lead incident investigations for both reportable and non-reportable events.
  • Execute internal audits and workplace inspections while investigating any safety-related complaints.
  • Provide ongoing guidance, coaching, and support to H&S Representatives.
  • Manage continuous improvement projects and play an active role in organizational change management initiatives.
  • Facilitate knowledge transfer through safety training and awareness campaigns.
  • Stay current with evolving Occupational Health and Safety legislation and serve as a key member of our multi-disciplinary team.
