Accountant Opportunity in Cape Town

Measured Ability is currently recruiting for an experienced Accountant to join a client based in the Foreshore CBD area of Cape Town. This role is essential for managing the day-to-day financial administration of the business, ensuring all accounting functions are executed with precision and punctuality to support management in their strategic and financial planning objectives.

Role Purpose

The successful candidate will take ownership of routine accounting tasks, maintaining high standards of accuracy to facilitate smooth business operations and value creation.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage customer invoicing and maintain the debtors ledger, including credit control and query resolution.
• Oversee warehouse stock releases and perform regular stock reconciliations, including investigating any variances.
• Capture and process supplier invoices while maintaining the creditors ledger and reconciling supplier statements.
• Prepare payment runs and manage the necessary supporting documentation for approval.
• Execute bank transaction processing and perform regular bank reconciliations.
• Maintain fixed asset registers and manage depreciation schedules.
• Support month-end close procedures, as well as audit, tax, and statutory submissions.
• Provide assistance with general operational administration and various ad hoc financial tasks.

Minimum Requirements

• A relevant Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 3–5 years of experience in a similar accounting role.
• A solid grasp of general accounting principles and practices.
• Demonstrated proficiency in accounting software.
• Strong technical skills in Microsoft Excel.
• A professional qualification such as CA, CIMA, or SAIPA is highly advantageous.

Advantageous Skills and Experience

• Practical experience with SAP accounting software.
• Exposure to Trade Finance, Customs and Imports, and foreign currency transactions.
• Proficiency in English, with the ability to communicate in Afrikaans or French being an added benefit.
