Production Planner Opportunity in the Eastern Cape
Recru-it is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Production Planner to join our team in the Eastern Cape. As a Production Planner, your primary objective will be to drive company goals by developing and maintaining precise daily and weekly production schedules. You will ensure that our production output remains both efficient and effective, consistently meeting internal requirements and client call-offs.
This role functions as a master scheduler, responsible for coordinating and monitoring products throughout the entire production cycle. You will collaborate closely with supervisors, clients, and external stakeholders to keep operations running smoothly.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Create and manage daily and weekly production schedules to optimize resource use and meet customer demand.
- Communicate scheduling plans clearly to the Production Department.
- Monitor outputs to ensure plan compliance and proactively identify necessary adjustments.
- Coordinate with the Material Requirements Planner to guarantee raw material availability.
- Troubleshoot production issues and drive continuous process improvements.
- Generate essential production reports and schedules.
- Process customer releases via My Exchange and manage WIP and half-bin inventory.
- Conduct cycle counts and perform stock monitoring.
- Compile lists of non-operational tools and escalate any production stoppers immediately.
- Maintain a deep understanding of customer requirements, product lead times, take rates, and volumes.
- Oversee finished goods storage and coordinate stock takes to ensure full compliance.
- Lead production planning meetings twice a week.
- Manage labor balancing, overtime justification, and administrative support for the Production Manager.
- Maintain high standards of layout and 6s workplace organization.
- Act as a key liaison between the production team, CMS, and Maintenance departments.
Education and Qualifications
- Grade 12 certificate.
- A relevant tertiary qualification in production, scheduling, or inventory management.
Required Experience and Skills
- A minimum of 3 years of scheduling experience.
- Proficiency in Syspro and high-level Excel skills.
- Proven experience within the injection moulding industry.
- Ability to design effective scheduling systems and interpret complex reports to guide decision-making.
- Exceptional multitasking and prioritization capabilities, with the ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision.
- Strong communication skills and technical aptitude are highly advantageous.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable personal transport.
