Financial Accountant Opportunity in Milnerton

Time Personnel is currently seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Financial Accountant to join a reputable client based in Milnerton, Cape Town. If you thrive on balancing the books, solving complex financial puzzles, and maintaining operational accuracy, this role offers the opportunity to take full ownership of the accounting function. We are looking for a proactive professional capable of managing everything from month-end processes and reconciliations to management reporting and statutory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Take full ownership of the daily accounting function for the company group.
• Lead the month-end close process, encompassing journals, accruals, provisions, and comprehensive reconciliations.
• Prepare and deliver accurate monthly management accounts and detailed financial reports.
• Execute bank, supplier, customer, and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Maintain precise and up-to-date accounts payable and receivable records.
• Ensure full compliance with SARS requirements, including VAT and PAYE submissions.
• Contribute to cash flow reporting, supplier payment planning, budgeting, and forecasting.
• Drive the continuous improvement of accounting processes, internal controls, and reporting workflows.

Requirements and Qualifications

• A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• At least 5 years of relevant accounting experience.
• Proven expertise in month-end cycles, reconciliations, and the production of management reports.
• Demonstrated ability to manage a broad accounting function independently.
• In-depth knowledge of South African VAT, SARS regulations, and statutory compliance.
• Proficiency in accounting software, with a strong preference for Sage Pastel.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and a structured approach to problem-solving.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to bridge the gap between finance and non-finance teams.

Beneficial Experience

While not strictly required, preference will be given to candidates who possess:

• Experience managing multi-currency transactions and foreign supplier payments.
• Background in handling customer deposits, refunds, supplier prepayments, and margin reporting.
• A track record of successfully optimizing finance processes, reconciliations, and internal controls.
