Data Centre Co-ordinator

Manpower SA (Pty) Ltd. is currently recruiting for a dedicated Data Centre Co-ordinator to join our client’s team based in the Northern Suburbs, Cape Town. This role is essential for ensuring the seamless maintenance, installation, and decommissioning of critical infrastructure. You will be responsible for managing Interconnect Cabling, Power Distribution Unit (PDU) installations, and providing expert Remote Hands and Smart Hands support to meet the diverse needs of our clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the full installation and decommissioning lifecycle of communication cables (CAT5e, CAT6, and Fibre), including precise testing, labelling, and documentation within strict SLA turnaround times.
  • Perform expert troubleshooting on copper, coaxial, and fibre-optic cabling (Singlemode & Multimode) using industry-standard instruments such as OTDRs, power meters, and light sources.
  • Execute basic network troubleshooting, including loopback testing for copper, fibre, and SFP components.
  • Handle the physical installation, firmware updates, and fault-finding for in-rack Power Distribution Units (PDUs).
  • Provide comprehensive Remote Hands support, including server reboots, patching, auditing, and media swaps.
  • Utilize knowledge of wireless and PTP technologies, including media conversion between fibre and copper.
  • Ensure 99.99% uptime for data cabling infrastructure by maintaining rigorous working standards and adhering to all MSAs and SLAs.
  • Perform administrative duties to keep data centre systems organized, efficient, and fully compliant with internal policies.
  • Collaborate with support teams to maximize uptime and maintain high-quality service delivery.
  • Monitor health and safety standards to ensure full regulatory and business practice compliance.

Required Skills and Attributes

  • Strong technical aptitude with a proven ability to troubleshoot systems and identify root causes of failures.
  • Excellent communication skills with an active listening approach to understand and act on client requirements.
  • A proactive mindset, capable of performing rapid, accurate assessments in critical situations.
  • Ability to work both independently and as a collaborative, positive team member.
  • High levels of professionalism, patience, and a commitment to self-development.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to manage tasks within agreed timelines.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant cabling experience is required (5 years is preferred).
  • Solid experience working within a data centre environment is highly advantageous.
  • Proven, hands-on experience utilizing copper and fibre optic testing equipment.
  • Relevant networking experience and product certifications will be viewed as a strong advantage.
